Who is the right bookkeeper for me?

While there are many bookkeepers out there, not every bookkeeper is the right fit for your business. Here are a few key items to consider as you interview and select the right bookkeeper for you!

  1. Competent: While it is not important for your bookkeeper to understand every single detail of your business, it is important for them to understand how money flow in, out, and through your business. Look for a bookkeeper who has experience and understanding of your business niche.

  2. Efficient: Ask questions about how quickly transactions will be categorized and when you can expect reports such as your profit/loss statement and cash flow statement. This will allow you to make quick business decisions based on the results of the previous month.

  3. Experienced: Bookkeepers should be well trained in the softwares and systems that you utilize on a regular basis. An experienced and well trained bookkeeper has the benefit of trial and error in their early bookkeeping years and they will be able to handle the ins and outs of your business with ease and swiftness.

  4. Detail-oriented: When searching for a bookkeeper, do they answer all of your questions? Do they respond in a timely manner? Your initial impression of a bookkeeper may prove to save you down the road.

  5. Trustworthiness: Read their reviews. While one or two bad reviews could be excused by a poor personality match between bookkeeper and client, a significant amount of negative reviews should be cause to keep looking. You are allowing this person into the privacy of your business (and perhaps your personal) finances. The bookkeeper you choose should be someone you feel comfortable sharing these private details with.

With years of experience and numerous happy client reviews, we’d love to invite you to a FREE consultation to confirm that our services are the best fit for your organization!
